Step 1. Getting connected

The Xtra Business QuickStart package provides dial-up access to Xtra and the Internet through your normal phone line. All you need is the Xtra CD, an analogue telephone line and a modem connected to your computer to register online or order a connection pack. The specific system requirements you need are as follows:

Either an Apple Macintosh or Windows-based PC with the following capabilities:

Windows

Processor: 486DX / 66Mhz or higher
Memory: 16MB minimum RAM

Disk space required:
If Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher is already installed:* 2MB
If Internet Explorer 5.0 has not been installed: 70MB

* Windows 98 and Windows 2000 come with Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher installed as standard.

Macintosh

Processor: Macintosh Power PC
Operating System: MacOS 7.5.5 or higher

Memory: 8MB minimum RAM with virtual memory on, 12MB recommended

Disc space required:
MacOS 8.6 or below: 12MB
MacOS 9: 1MB

And for both

• A mouse (or other pointing device)
• A modem. Xtra supports speeds of up to 56K on modems using the V.90 standard. The minimum modem speed is 14.4Kbps
• A monitor with a minimum resolution of 640 x 480 and 256 colours
